SourceMod translations occur through an on-line tool. To use this tool you must a language moderator. Read on for details.

Becoming a Language Moderator

File a bug (AlliedModders product, IT component). The subject should be something like "Request to be language moderator"

Please include

  • A link to your forum account.
  • The languages you want to moderate.

Using the Tool

You can find the tool at http://www.sourcemod.net/translator/. Log in to proceed (only works if you are a language moderator). Click the "Language" link to change to a language you have access to moderate.

The tool is fairly self explanatory. A "green" file is complete. A "blue" file has ambiguous translations (meaning, there is more than one translation for a phrase). A "red" file is missing translations.

The goal is to have all files be green. Any phrase missing a translation should be translated. If a phrase has multiple translations, you should reduce it to one.

Work Cycle

Each SourceMod release that changes the language phrases will have what's called a "string freeze." This is when we guarantee that no translatable strings will be changed before the release. When a string freeze occurs we will post news for language moderators.

Once the strings are frozen, it becomes the language moderators' responsibilities to make sure all files and phrases are green.

All "green" languages (languages that have exactly one translation for every phrase) will be exported into the official release. Any ambiguous or incomplete languages will be left out. If there is a release with no string changes, we will include any new languages that weren't translated before.

Time Requirement

There is no time requirement to work on translating. We will generally leave at least two weeks in between string freezing and a release. Anyone is free to translate SourceMod at their leisure -- contributions are greatly appreciated!
